Gulf Electronic Manufacturing

Electronics built here, not just imported here.

GEMCO is establishing complete electronics manufacturing plants — each with its own engineering, R&D and prototyping centre — in Oman, Saudi Arabia and Syria. We begin with interactive flat panels and direct-view LED video wall modules, and move deliberately from assembly to products designed in-house.

Product programme

What the plants will build

One manufacturing template, three countries, two phases. Each plant is built to the same standard so that a design proven in one can be produced in the others.

Phase 1 · Product 1

Interactive flat panels

Large-format interactive displays for classrooms, boardrooms and training centres — 65″ to 98″, 4K UHD, multi-touch, with an OPS slot for a built-in PC. The line opens as SKD assembly of panels from our manufacturing partners in China and deepens toward CKD as local capability grows.

Phase 1 · Product 2

Direct-view LED video walls

Indoor and outdoor LED video wall modules and cabinets at P1.5, P2.0 and P2.5 pitch, built on a full SMT line: paste printing, placement, reflow, optical inspection, calibration and burn-in. The first board designs come from our partner; subsequent revisions are designed in our own engineering centre.

Phase 2 · In-house design

Robotics, drones and communications

Once the LED and panel lines are running and the engineering team is established, the plants move to products designed from the schematic up: robotics, unmanned aerial systems, communication devices and video-conferencing hardware.

How localisation actually happens

Three steps from assembly to authorship

Electronics localisation fails when a factory tries to skip a rung. GEMCO climbs the ladder in order, moving a product to the next step only when yield, test coverage and the engineering team are ready for it.

SKD assembly — semi-knocked-down

Panels and LED modules arrive as major sub-assemblies. The plant performs final assembly, integration, testing, calibration, packing and certification, and runs the full quality and after-sales chain locally.

CKD assembly — complete-knocked-down

The plant takes bare boards and loose components and performs the whole build: solder-paste printing, SMT placement, reflow, optical inspection, through-hole and selective soldering, conformal coating, module and cabinet assembly.

In-house design

Our engineering centre takes over the board itself — requirements analysis, schematic capture, controller selection, layer stack-up, signal integrity, thermal design and design-for-manufacture — so the product and its supply chain belong to us.

Country of origin

Made in Oman. Made in Saudi Arabia. Made in Syria.

Each plant produces under its own country's name, and each one creates high-tech employment that this sector does not offer locally today.

Made inOman

The first direct-view LED modules and interactive panels to carry an Omani country-of-origin mark — a product category the Sultanate imports in full today. Local manufacture also counts toward In-Country Value requirements.

Engineering careers in Sohar

Made inSaudi Arabia

Display hardware manufactured inside the Kingdom, so it can be specified where local content is scored and Saudi-made products are preferred in government and giga-project procurement.

Local content, built by Saudi engineers

Made inSyria

A modern electronics assembly and design capability returning to a country with the engineering tradition to support it — and giving trained Syrian engineers advanced work at home.

Skilled work returning home

The jobs behind the label

A country-of-origin mark is only meaningful if the work behind it is skilled. These plants are not screwdriver shops: running an SMT line, calibrating a video wall and designing a controller board are engineering jobs, and each plant is staffed and trained to create them locally.

SMT process engineers

Own the print, placement and reflow profiles that decide first-pass yield.

PCB design engineers

Schematic capture, layout, signal integrity and thermal design, in-house.

Test and quality engineers

ICT, AOI and burn-in strategy, compliance, and traceability systems.

Calibration technicians

Photometric calibration and colour matching across a complete wall.

Production technicians

Machine operation, changeover, maintenance and first-line fault finding.

Component and supply-chain engineers

Supplier qualification, incoming inspection and BOM management.

Field service engineers

Installation, commissioning and warranty support inside the country.

Line leaders and trainers

Turning documented process into local capability, shift by shift.

Where we build

Three countries, chosen for different reasons

Each location is picked for a specific advantage — market access, demand, or talent — and each plant is designed so its output can serve the other two.

Oman · first plant

A manufacturing base with reach

Free-zone status with full foreign ownership, long-term tax exemption and customs relief on exports; deep-water ports outside the Strait of Hormuz; and a free trade agreement with the United States that few manufacturing locations in the region can match.

Saudi Arabia

The region's largest demand centre

An industrial strategy that actively rewards local content, giga-projects and public programmes that consume large-format display by the thousand square metres, and serviced industrial cities ready for a plant of this size.

Syria

Rebuilding an engineering economy

A new investment framework, easing sanctions, an experienced engineering and light-manufacturing workforce, and reconstruction demand across schools, hospitals, broadcast, transport and public information systems.

The people behind it

This project is led by engineers, not traders. The team in charge has spent long careers in computer engineering, circuit design and high-volume electronics manufacturing at world-class companies, and has taken products from schematic to shipped hardware before.

That experience sets the sequence of everything here: build the line, prove the process, train the people, then take ownership of the design. It is also why an engineering, R&D and prototyping centre sits inside every plant from day one rather than being promised for later.

More about our approach

Inside every plant

Engineering from day one

  • Schematic capture and PCB layout for LED receiving and control boards
  • Prototype fabrication, assembly and bring-up on site
  • Design-for-manufacture review before a product reaches the line
  • Test-jig and fixture development for each new product
  • Training programmes that move local engineers onto the design work
