About

Run by people who have built hardware before.

GEMCO — Gulf Electronic Manufacturing — exists to move electronics production, and eventually electronics design, into the region that buys it.

Leadership

Engineering leadership, not a licence deal

The people in charge of this project came to it from long careers in computers, circuit design and manufacturing at world-class companies. Between them they have designed circuit boards, taken products from schematic through prototype to volume production, run production lines and quality systems, and built engineering teams.

That background shapes every decision here. It is why the plants are specified around yield, test coverage and ESD control rather than headline capacity; why an engineering and prototyping centre sits inside each facility from the first day; and why the localisation plan is staged instead of announced all at once.

It is also why our starting position is honest: the first interactive panels arrive as kits, and the first LED board design comes from our manufacturing partner in China. What makes this a manufacturing company rather than an import business is what happens next — each product moves up the ladder from assembly to complete build to in-house design, on a schedule the engineering team can actually hold.

Experience the team brings

What has been done before

  • Schematic capture and multilayer PCB design for commercial products
  • High-volume SMT production, process setup and yield improvement
  • Quality systems, test strategy and regulatory compliance
  • Supplier qualification and component supply chains across Asia
  • Building and training engineering and production teams from scratch

How we work

Six principles the plan is built on

Principle

Partner first, then independence

We start with proven partners in China for panels, boards and components, and treat every partnership as a transfer of capability with a defined end point — not a permanent dependency.

Principle

Train for the next step, not this one

Operators are trained toward technician work and technicians toward engineering, because the plan requires local people who can run a CKD line and later design for it.

Principle

Compliance as a product feature

CE, FCC, EMC and RoHS conformity, ESD control and documented traceability are designed into the line at the start. Retrofitting them costs more than building with them.

Principle

Build where you sell

Local manufacturing shortens lead times, removes shipping damage and customs delay from the critical path, and keeps warranty, spares and service in the same country as the customer.

Principle

Reserve room to grow

Each plot holds land back for Phase 2 lines. Expansion is a planning decision made at the start, not a problem discovered later.

Principle

One template, three plants

A shared layout, process and component list lets a proven line be copied to the next country, and lets the plants support each other.

Phase two

The plants are the platform, not the product

Phase 2 programme

What in-house design opens up

Once the engineering centres are established and the lines are proven, the same facilities can carry products designed from the ground up:

  • Robotics for industrial, educational and service applications
  • Unmanned aerial systems and their ground control electronics
  • Communication devices and network hardware
  • Video conferencing and collaboration hardware

Why it matters regionally

The Gulf and the Levant buy display and communications electronics in enormous quantity and manufacture almost none of it. Every panel, module and spare part is imported, with the lead times, shipping risk and currency exposure that implies.

A plant that can assemble today and design tomorrow changes that arithmetic: shorter supply lines, products specified for regional conditions — heat, dust, humidity, salt air — and a generation of local engineers who learn the work by doing it.
